LDG Datum Appointed to Monitor Construction on the Tropical Fruit Warehouse 2020.

PJ Hegarty have contracted LDG Datum to monitor development works on a cutting edge, HJL Architecture designed scheme at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin.

Designed by Henry J Lyons Architects, the scheme will deliver more than 80,000 sq. ft. of unique river front offices and will include a new 6 storey office block at the rear overlooking an existing public square.

The original warehouse building will be sensitively restored, and the design incorporates the addition of two floating, fully glazed office floors which will cantilever over the protected structure providing panoramic views over the River Liffey.

LDG Datum have been contracted to remotely and manually monitor the surrounding buildings for stability and to carry out environmental monitoring.

Datum’s role in this process involves the delivery of highly accurate and compliant systems that meet the needs of the planning requirements for the commercial offices. This includes the monitoring of the existing surrounding buildings that include the Clayton Hotel, Three Mobile Ireland,Deloitte Digital and preservation of the listed building, The Tropical Fruit Warehouse.

The monitoring exercises provide vital control measures to ensure stability of the surrounding super structures, so they remain unaffected by the piling and construction phases of this project.

LDG Datum will specify equipment including a Leica Geosystems TS16 for 3D Monitoring, nine continuous vibration monitoring stations, three continuous noise monitoring stations, two continuous tilt sensors and four dust monitoring stations.

“Our client IPUT was impressed with how we facilitated and controlled Molesworth Street’s monitoring requirements. This project has several critical receptors that could be impacted on, due to the works requirements. Datum provides the level of expertise necessary for an all-in-one package from design to completion. The friendly support from Mark and his team compliment the works process, ensuring our site management have full access to resulting data. Without this, we cannot review, analyse then predict how invasive the works could be, and that raises risk to an unacceptable level”.

John Gavigan, Contracts Manager for PJ Hegarty

“We’ve installed monitoring equipment for PJH on several high-profile projects over the years and so we have a great rapport with their team. They go the extra mile to ensure their sites adopt a healthy monitoring regime. Their confidence in our services and state-of-the-art equipment brings the highest level of reliability to each project. We are delighted to be a part of the PJH team on this project”.
